FREEDOM LIVE! FUNDRAISER New Freedom Theatre is Pennsylvania's oldest African-American theatre, housed in the historic Edwin Forrest Mansion on Philadelphia's Avenue of the Arts. The Performing Arts Training Program(PATP)was founded in 1968 by Robert E. Leslie. The alumni of the Barrymore Award-winning PATP are not only sponsoring this fundraiser, but will be hosting and performing in this event. Please help New Freedom Theatre by supporting Arts Education for Youth and providing positive youth development in Philadelphia, by coming out to support the event, or by making a tax-deductible donation online at click on “Give to Freedom Theatre”. FEATURING: JOHNNIE HOBBS, III - director of the short film “Nostalgia” together with producing partners, Dulé Hill, Dustin Felder and co-writer Jason Messina. KHALIL MUNIR- Creator and writer for his one-man show, 1pound4ounces, a tap, drama, hip-hop tour-de-force. HASAN MILAK - A spoken word artist who has performed with the Philadelphia Youth Poetry Movement and was featured in the 2008 HBO Russell Simmons presents Brave New Voices. NIA NEXT - Nia Next, the apprentice company of Danse4Nia Repertory Ensemble features young people from ages 12-18. The artistic director of both companies, Antoinette Coward Gilmore, is a Freedom Theatre Alum.
